Meaning: A seasoned hand learning the ropes on a new job.
Pronunciation: Stin-turn.
Usage: Nine months into his job, our VP is still as clueless as a stintern.
Root: Stint (period of responsibility) + Intern (Trainee).
Note: By extension, Stinternship is the training period on a new job.
